About Kathy

Growing up the child of a United States Army officer, Kathy moved around regularly. One constant her mother maintained for her daughter was a library card. From an early age, Kathy was free to explore the bookshelves, carefully choosing her weekly reading stash. Her love of books developed at an early age.

As an adult, with a BBA in marketing and management from James Madison University, Kathy spent many years in the nonprofit sector. Feeling ready for a new professional challenge, she completed the University of Washington’s professional editing program in 2011.

Kathy launched her editing business immediately after graduation when she copyedited her first book, a history of eating well titled Cavemen, Monks, and Slow Food by Devra Gartenstein. Since then she has collaborated with first-time and experienced authors in both fiction and nonfiction. She has a special interest in romance and mystery fiction and business, self-help, and memoir nonfiction.

Dedicated to her professional growth, Kathy is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, ACES: The Society for Editing, and Sisters in Crime. She also maintains her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.

When not editing, you can find Kathy knitting with friends, walking in nature, sitting with a good book at her local coffee shop, or playing with her very cute, slightly naughty cat, Sampson.
